I’m a newbie here. I have heard about Kratom before. It’s useful for people who are suffering from mental depression or severe pain. Is this real?
Please let me know. Thank you!
I’m also a newbie in the kratom community. I’ve been using kratom for about six months, and it’s been a life-changer for me. I knew vaguely what kratom is, since I’ve worked in health food stores and am pretty familiar with a wide range of herbs. None of the stores I worked at carried it, and so I’d never actually seen it.
I am almost 70 years old. About 18 months ago I began, out of the blue, experiencing severe panic attacks. Having never had one before in my life, I had no idea what was happening – the first time, I thought maybe I was having a stroke. One doctor decided I was having seizures and sent a letter to the DMV recommending my license be suspended. This necessitated me spending months seeing neurologists and proving that my symptoms weren’t seizures – they simply didn’t fit the definition of the word, but I still didn’t have any idea what was happening to me. People kept saying it was panic attacks, but I refused to believe it. Anyway, once the idea percolated in my brain for a few months, I realized that simply as a physiological descriptor, panic attack was a lot more accurate than seizure.
I discovered kratom last summer by accident. My wife is disabled and has chronic pain, and I was researching alternatives to some of the pain meds she takes. I bought some for her, and it does help, a lot. One article mentioned characteristics of Maeng Da kratom as calm, focus, and an uplifted mood. Realizing that calm, focus and uplift are exactly what a person needs in the midst of an anxiety or panic attack, I immediately decided to try it myself. I noticed the effects instantly. Before, once one of these attacks commenced I had no earthly idea how to combat it. And they could last for hours, leaving me unable to do much of anything. A couple of times, I wound up in the ER which is where the opinion of seizures originated.
Long story short, I now take 3-5 grams daily. If an attack starts or I start feeling uneasy, a 500mg capsule cuts it off at the knees. I take 1000mg in the morning, another 500mg early afternoon, and more as needed. I may need to see a shrink to discover why I suddenly started having these attacks, but kratom is the only non-pharmaceutical product that is actual medicine for my specific condition. I recently reduced my dosage by a third, and it seems just as effective. Some folks say you shouldn’t use it daily, and warn against long-term use. But it’s my understanding that it’s been used in Asia exactly this way for ages. I wonder how my experience tallies with other members of this community.
